Osteopathy, explained
The body is connected.
Manual osteopathic therapy is hands-on care that looks at how your muscles, joints, connective tissue and movement work together.
Often gentle
Pressure can be subtle. Not necessarily forceful or full of cracking.
Not just the sore spot
Other areas may be contributing to what you feel.
You take part
Care can combine with exercise, education and sleep.
Soreness guide
Beyond the sore spot.
Choose where you feel it. See which nearby areas we may also look at.
This guide is general information. It does not diagnose a condition or say what is causing your discomfort. These are areas we may assess, not conclusions. If something feels severe, sudden or worrying, see your doctor first.
Techniques
What treatment can include.
Treatment is individual. It can include gentle joint movement, stretching, myofascial remodeling, craniosacral techniques, manual lymphatic therapy and visceral manipulation. We are growing our work with three of them.
Craniosacral therapy
A gentle, hands-on therapy. People seek it mainly for relaxation, stress and musculoskeletal discomfort.
- Deep relaxation from slow, gentle touch
- A break from daily stimulation
- Less physical tension for some people
- Some research suggests possible benefit for certain head, neck and back pain
- Some people sleep better and feel calmer
Visceral manipulation
Gentle pressure and movement around the abdomen and other regions. The idea is that tension in tissues around the organs can influence movement and symptoms elsewhere.
- Relaxation and less tension
- Some studies show short-term gains in pain or function
- A freer feeling through the abdomen, ribs or pelvis
- Comfort with breathing, where diaphragm tension is felt
Some people also use it for digestive concerns. Ask us if it suits your situation.
Manual lymphatic drainage
A very gentle therapy that encourages the movement of lymph fluid. Pressure is light, slow and rhythmic, quite unlike deep-tissue massage.
- Commonly part of broader programs for swelling (lymphedema)
- Sometimes used after surgery, depending on healing
- A lighter feeling where an area feels full or heavy
- Relaxation, comfort and easier movement
If you have had surgery or have swelling, check with us before booking.
Common reasons
Why people come in.
Jaw (TMJ) work is not suitable for every TMJ condition. We are honest about what we can and cannot help with.
Similar to physiotherapy or chiropractic care in being hands-on, but osteopathy has its own philosophy and techniques. More in the FAQs.

Will I feel anything afterward?

All involve hands-on care, but osteopathy has its own philosophy and techniques. It looks at the body as a connected system rather than only at the spot that hurts.
